It’s very nearly mango season here in El Salvador, and the early Mangoes are starting to appear in the markets and on the ground. There are mango trees everywhere! The branches are getting heavy as the mangoes start weighing them down. Hundreds and thousands of mangoes everywhere! I’ve missed mango season everywhere else, I seem to leave just before or arrive just after, so I’m excited about being totally over mangoes sometime in the next couple of months!
This week as my ‘proprio’ (tip) for massaging my neighbour, in exchange for doing my laundry, I received a foraged mangoes and some bananas. How’s that for alternative culture? I froze the bananas and waited for the mango to ripen a little more to send you a healthy hug over the internet with a delicious, nutritious smoothie inspiration!
Mango, Papaya, Banana & strawberry Smoothie
Serves 1 perfectly
– half a mango
– half a frozen banana
– 4 strawberries
– 2 inches of papaya
– 1/4 – 1/2 cup of water, depending upon the consistency you’re looking for, I like more of a puree!
– blend all the ingredients together, using the crush ice function initially if you have it to break the banana down and then puree, adding more water if you want something runnier, or want to share.
– sit back and enjoy life
