Still honouring the impending mango season with some early mango recipes, this week’s healthy hug is a Mango, Pineapple, Banana Smoothie with Chia & Sunflowers seeds thrown in for extra protein power! Especially important to watch your protein intake if you’re vegan or vegetarian and get some super food protein sources mixed into your diet rich with fruits and vegetables! Nature put all the nutrients in easily accessible packaging like bananas, not in polystyrene, foil or plastic…
It’s very hard to get a smoothie wrong, so experiment and throw what you have into the mix and see how it turns out.
1/2 cup of Mango chunks
1 cup of pineapple chunks
2 chunks of frozen banana
1/4 – 1/2 cup of water
1 tblsp of chia seeds
1 heaped tblsp of sunflower seeds
1 tsp of flax seed or other omega oil (optional)
– Throw all the ingredients into the blender, maybe using the crush ice function if you have it to break the frozen banana down into smaller pieces, before turning it to a normal puree mode
– I also stirred in a tsp of flax (linseed) oil into the smoothie before drinking to help my body heal its various mosquito bites and surfing cuts
– Sit back, take a moment to enjoy life and chew your smoothie
